I cannot believe I went from not even wanting to TRY turkey burgers to having them on a weekly basis! I absolutely love the flavor of these burgers and crave them from week to week. I have experimented with various additions but this is my favorite. These make four to five burgers depending on how large the burgers are. Turkey burgers have such great flavor and don’t dry out like beef burgers. I have turned into a turkey burger lovin’ fool!
1 lb ground turkey
¼ cup red onion, minced
2 handfuls fresh spinach
1/8 cup sundried tomatoes in oil
2 tablespoon fresh basil
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp fennel
¼ red pepper flakes
1.Combine red onion, fresh spinach, basil and sundried tomatoes into a food processor and blend until minced finely.
2. In a large bowl, combine the vegetable mixture, ground turkey, and seasonings. Mix thoroughly (using your hands works best).
2. Shape burger into rounds, mixture should make four large burgers, and indent in the center for an even cook.
3. Heat grill until hot and cook burgers, about 5 minutes per side, flip once.
4. Top with your favorite toppings: kale pesto, Dijon mustard, ketchup, cooked mushrooms and onions, fresh tomato, or lettuce.
