To say we love our bowls, is an understatement. I’ve been making my own versions of acai bowls for years. I think I actually think I can date it back to 2016. Not saying that I liked them before they were cool, but I definitely remember having conversations about these ‘bowls’ and people have zero idea of what I was talking about.
Anyways, I have made them with so many different variations of fruit. Although I do love using acai in the base, it is expensive when you eat them as frequently as I do. I also don’t love that so many companies will throw in some unwanted additives so you are getting more than just the fruit you want.
This brings me to this recipe. You can make the most delicious, thick, smoothie base with this amazing recipe. I have to say, I have the best luck with a vitamix. If you are using a different blender, I wish you the best of luck. Having the temper for the vitamix really allows you to push down the food as you go, ensuring all gets mixed into perfection.
The toppings are up to you. I typically always add some fresh fruit and my homemade granola but I’ll list out a few ideas for you to add to your bowls:)
